For the past few days, I’ve been walking past our Christmas Tree trying to decide where to start. We’re in the beginning of packing for a move. We finally purchased a home and will be moving right after the New Year. So, needless to say, my mind and energy are focused on the move. But, everyone else in my family is expecting a fully decorated home since we are technically living there.Looking at the tree and all of the boxes filled with years and years of Christmas decorations just makes me sigh. Where do I start? Do I start with the miles and miles of string lights? I think I should start with the lights as the first order of business as my base of my tree decorating. After the lights, I usually add my garland and I make sure to color coordinate with the lights and bulbs.
Once the tree has the lights and garlands it’s now ready for the ornaments. I like to group the ornaments into small medium and large pairings. The small ornaments I place on the bottom, the medium on the top and the large ones are strategically placed in the center of the tree. It’s truly a method to my madness. Large bulbs are heavier and look out-of-place if placed near the top of the tree. Once the ornaments have been placed I decide on a tree topper. I have stars and angels and usually alternate from year to year. Listing all of my steps sounds easy but I still have a naked tree in my living room. Where do you start when decorating your tree?
