Good night, sleep tight
Don’t let the bed bugs bite.
But, if they do then take your shoe and
Hit them til they’re black and blue.
I may be telling my age but I remember my mother singing that obscure nursery rhyme to me when I was a little girl. At the time I never actually knew what a bed bug really was. It’s just been since the past few years that I realized bedbugs were REAL.I read an article a few years back that said bed bugs had all been eradicate in the U.S. However, with so many bans placed on industrial as well as household cleansers paired with the emerging immigrant population, has been a perfect breeding ground for the re-emergence of bed bugs. The scientific name for bed bugs is Cimex lectularius, they are small wingless insects that feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals. Humans remain the perfect host for these blood suckers.
Bed bugs multiply exponentially and horrifying tales of infestations have been reported all across the United States. From movie theaters, college dormitories and public transportation. Buildings, places and spaces that house a lot of people are loved by bed bugs one and all. Like mosquitoes they move from host to host able to jump from one person to another. Once an infestation has occurred prompt removal of mattresses, furniture, clothes is recommended. Often times repeat extermination is recommended because of their staying power and ability to withstand the weakened chemicals.
