Something about a New Year make you want to embrace change. Perhaps that bathroom you’ve been meaning to get to, now has a sense of urgency to spruce up and get er done… A new vanity, shower curtains or maybe this is the year you’re going to finally get that sauna like shower head. Actually, this time of year is a great time to get those interior design projects going.
Local Hardware Stores
Did you know many of your local hardware stores offer DIY Classes for Women? They do! I actually attended a class with my sister a few years back and we learned how to make an Adirondack chair. The class was fun and interactive and we actually learned some basic carpentry skills. We learned about different types of wood that was available and received special offers and a bag of tools all for FREE. Check your local hardware stores for offerings and sign up quickly as classes fill up fast.
Big Box Stores
Now, that’s it’s February stores have had an opportunity to go through all of the stock and inventory that wasn’t bought during the Christmas rush. This is a prime opportunity for you to go out and grab those once a year bargains. So many household items are deeply discounted to make way for newer models. Sometimes the difference can hardly be noticed by the consumer and therefore what do you care if you have last year’s model? As my mom always says, “No one will know, unless you tell them.” Really good words to live by. So, remember to check those clearance baskets and end caps in every aisle for special pricing and bargains.
Fabric and Craft Stores
Around the beginning of the month is a good time to check out your local craft and fabric stores. They also discount last year’s fabrics and making your own curtains is a lot cheaper than buying them. Most stores also offer extremely cheap sewing and many other DIY classes, so you can also learn as you remodel and renew your living spaces.
