Chances are if you’re in business, your industry offers seminars, courses and many times trade shows. Trade shows are a great way to get a insider’s view of what’s going on in your industry. The opportunity to meet people in your industry that are doing the same job as you are is, invaluable. Many times you learn about different methods or trends you knew nothing about before attending.Trade Shows are notorious for the types of people they attract. Take the Networker, a person who attends simply for the express reason to collect as many business cards and to meet as many people in the field as they can. They feel the need to follow you on ALLLL of your social media networks, and are really a wealth of knowledge when it’s all said and done.
The Swag Seeker, is another type of person who is present at every trade show. These people attend trade shows for the trophy’s, the goodies. They want T-shirts, napkins, ink-pens ANYTHING to prove to their family and friends they attended the companies, Trade show. They aren’t interested in networking or helping others, they are there for logo covered swag.
Perhaps you love your field of work, but not the company you work for. Trade Shows are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to whose hiring in your field. Which brings me to my favorite type of person who attends Trade Shows, The Start Up. They’re smart, with a very strong work ethic. They believe in themselves, they’re committed and motivated. They’ve mortgaged their homes, sold their cars and borrowed money from everyone they know to make their business a success.
I hope you’ve enjoyed just a glimpse into the 10 people you meet at trade shows. Have you ever attended a trade show? If you were to attend a trade show, which label would you give yourself?
