I’ve been blogging for over six (6) years now and every year EXCEPT this one I featured a Holiday Gift Guide on my blog for my readers. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the opportunity to review and share awesome holiday products for my readers. But, the problem for me, Holiday Gift Guides are really a PITA. First of all, you start pitching brands and they start pitching you around late August and September. Whose thinking about Christmas in August? Around that time I’m usually scrambling for some last minute Summer vacations an school shopping for my kids.I’m sure I’m the only Blogger not featuring a Holiday Gift Guide, but I’m OK with that. While the rest of my blogging counterparts are sifting through a plethora of emails with the subject line “Holiday Gift Guide Ideas” or “Feature this Product for Your Holiday Gift Guide”, I am not. While a Holiday Gift Guide is a great source for traffic, for me the traffic is short lived and not long term. I prefer readers who visit my blog for my writing, content and honest reviews. Many times when hosting a Holiday Gift Guide I am so busy promoting products I’m unable to really interact with my readers in a way we’ve become accustomed.
I’m not sure about you, but eye drops and liquid soap is not a product I would give or want to receive as a gift. Unfortunately some reps are so pressured and desperate to get their products out that they’ll pitch you any thing in hopes of getting it featured on your Holiday Gift Guide. I admit in the past I also felt pressured to offer a number of products in my guide that I accepted and promoted these products.
While I will not be featuring a 2016 Holiday Gift Guide, I will be accepting products for review the holidays. These products will be featured on all of my social networks and will be promoted heavily. Now, that I’m not pressured to conform to Holiday Gift Guide guidelines and promotions I can take the time to thoroughly promote a limited number of truly awesome products/services. If you have a product, or service you would like featured on my blog for the holidays, please contact me through my contact form or email.
