Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. All funds were used to purchase school supplies for the Giving Backpacks Event sponsored by Aldis. Any opinions are my own.
Every year, more and more students are not prepared for school because of their lack of school supplies. Teachers are burdened with purchasing supplies for their students because some parents are financially unable to purchase the necessary supplies students need for school. As a parent and a blogger I’ve seen the vicious cycle and have been tasked to be a part of the solution through the Annual Aldi Giving Backpacks Event 2016. Giving Backpacks Event 2016
A group of select bloggers were tasked to Pay it Forward by purchasing $25 worth of school supplies for children in need. The $25 was provided to the bloggers by Aldi Grocery Store in the form of a gift certificate. The bloggers then go to their local Aldi’s store and purchase school supplies.
Students In Need
This year I decided to help a high school student who attends school with my youngest son. Many backpack giveaways target younger grade school students. While this is understandable, I realize as a parent, children of all ages require necessary school supplies. High school students require more notebooks, paper and pens. My youngest son said in High School they rely so much on taking notes because books are not readily available. The young lady I’m donating school supplies too has a 3.5 GPA and loves the color purple. While I wasn’t able to find any purple notebooks, I did find a purple binder, I hope she’ll enjoy and use often.
Thank You, Aldi
I shop at my local Aldi at least twice weekly. I enjoy the variety of foods and the affordable prices. I now appreciate Aldi even more for being a part of the solution and using the Giving Backpack platform as a way of helping out underprivileged children. I was happy to be a part of this one-of-a-kind event.
