I have to admit usually when I’m in the market to purchase a new automobile I don’t usually look at the car’s performance record per se. We all want cars that look nice, the right color, and has good gas performance. But being an informed consumer is so much more than buying a car that looks pretty.
Year after year cars are recalled for so many things, including being too dangerous to drive on the road. Keeping ourselves and loved ones safe in our cars should be paramount for every driver on the road. It’s true, accidents do happen but when you can avoid driving a dangerous car you should at all cost. Preventing a major catastrophe and saving lives is extremely important. Just about every car maker has a website. In addition to all of the specs about cars their is also performance reports. This is what we should be reading prior to purchasing a new or used vehicle.
These days we Americans LOVE to tool about town in our SUV’s, Mini-Vans and Pick-up Trucks. I’ll be honest, I speak from experience, my current car is a mini-van and my husband drives a pick-up truck. I was surprised to learn that SUV’s, Mini-Vans and Pick-up Trucks have more fatal car accidents than I was aware of. Many of the cars received numerous awards, some were even named Cars of the Year. But, after further research, those same award winning cars had OVER 50 deaths reported per million registrations. I know you’re thinking not bad odds right? Maybe so…. well… unless you or your loved one is one of the 50. See all things in perspective. Remember before you purchase your next car do your research to ensure you’re not driving the deadliest car on the road.
