As Americans we think we live in the safest country in the world, (We Don’t). We think because we have laws and regulations in place they protect us from ALL harmful chemicals, (They Don’t). This simply is not true and it’s time for us to get our heads out of the sand and insist that WE BECOME a safer America.
The Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) is the current law in place to protect your family and mine from toxic substances. This law has not been changed, modified or updated since 1976. That’s 37 years of chemicals and substances that have not been regulated. Tens of thousands of potentially harmful substances not being regulated, tested or disclosed. Subsequently these chemicals have made their way into our workplace and homes leaving us vulnerable and at-risk. Of the 85,000 synthetic chemicals introduced onto the market since 1976, the EPA has required testing on less than 10%.
- Were you shocked to learn about the outdated TSCA?
Exposure and Health Risk
Scientist have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to many health risks, such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects and various reproductive problems. Unborn babies are exposed to over 300 chemicals of concern. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has identified 152 chemicals of concern in blood and urine samples of the average American.
- Was your baby born with a birth defect?
- Do you know someone diagnosed with cancer in the last 37 years?

Join the Fight
Seventh Generation is working to push a reform on (TSCA) which would have over 85,000 chemicals studied, evaluated and tested.
The Toxin Freedom Fighters Campaign has a goal to collect 100,000 signatures of concerned Americans like me and you to give to Congress on April 30, 2014. The signatures will strengthen the movement behind chemical reform, and will encourage decision makers to change the neccessary laws. They will spread awareness of the 37 year old (TSCA) law and start conversations about how it fails to protect the health of the general public.
Demand that Congress reevaluate the Toxic Substance Control Act for the first time since 1976 and sign the petition HERE.
