When the time comes to choose a wedding ring there is an age old rule of
thumb that says you should be prepared to spend at least two (2) month’s
salary on the price of the ring. Because salaries vary by individuals in the
end rings can cost as much as 20,000 or as little as 1,000. Included in the
cost are some other very important caveats that aren’t always discussed.
Regardless of what you may have heard most little girl’s dream of the day
they get married. The white wedding dress, the big beautiful wedding and the
ring! Long before the actual wedding day brides to be announce their weddings
by showing off the ring. The ring is symbolic of your love for her and your
union together. Wedding rings are cherished and passed down for generations.
Size Does Matter:
Do not let anyone fool you size does matter when choosing a
wedding ring. Once she accepts your proposal you don’t want to spoil the moment
by pulling out a diamond that can’t be seen by the naked eye. After all, you’ve
spent two months of your hard earned salary shouldn’t the ring be
representative of the fruits of your labor and your undying love for her? Of
course it should. Remember, this is not a promise ring, this is the wedding
ring your wife will wear everyday for many many years. Be as conscious of the
size (carat) of the diamond (or stone) as you are of the price.
Diamonds are classified in four (4) different categories. Cut carat
(weight), color and clarity. Clarity relates to the visual appearance of the
diamond. The clearer the diamond is when viewed using a 10X loupe magnification
the better the clarity. Certain flaws cannot be seen using only the naked eye.
When a diamond has a cloudy or milky appearance the clarity is poor and the
diamond is worth a lot less. When a diamond sparkles in the light and captures
light the clarity is usually good.
Cut above the rest
When it comes to choosing a specific cut of diamond women are as
different in their preference as they are with everything else. Diamonds are
available in princess cut, round cut, pear cut and marquise cut the list is
vast and includes several different cuts. The key when choosing a specific cut
is to know your “intended” very well.
