The city I know and love
has been thrust into the national spotlight as an unlawful, destitute and one
big raging ghetto. I was born and raised here, and I now raise my family here.

single story is accurate.
I was growing up, it’s not the Wild Wild Wild West either. I am still able to
walk down the street without fear of being gunned down at the corner store or
gas station. I send my kids to school and on errands without fear that they
will never return. In the summer we sit on the front porch. We invite our
friends over for parties and celebrations that we enjoy outside in our back
yard. We attend the annual fireworks event every year in downtown Detroit at Hart
do believe everyone has the right to protect themselves while in their homes.
Your home regardless of what city or state it is in is yours, a safe place, a
non- violent place where you raise your family. My boys’ who are all teenagers
have always known we have guns in our home to protect our family. They don’t
play with them, they don’t touch them and they don’t dare ask their
whereabouts. They were taught as little boys to always respect guns. We never
bought them guns to play with and we taught them never to play with real
guns. We keep all of our guns in a
locked safe. A gun safe in my home ensures the safety of my family and gives me peace of mind.
