|20 Mule Team Borax|
When I was offered the opportunity to review 20 Mule Team Borax I thought to myself, “that’s a blast from the past!” I hadn’t heard of that product since I was a little girl. I can’t remember if anyone in my family actually used the product but what I did vaguely remember was an old black and white commercial featuring the product.
See, what I mean when I said a “Blast from the Past?” Out of curiosity I decided to give the product a try. If you are an avid reader of my blog then you’ve heard me mention many times about my home here in the city of Detroit. It is a much smaller home than my family and I are used to and has a laundry list of issues we deal with on a daily basis. One of those being “hard water.”
What is hard water?
Over 85% of homes have what most people call “hard water.” Hard water is defined as water that contains calcium and magnesium (ions).
How does hard water affect laundry?
When you add detergent to hard water, some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium granules that settle on the bottom of your washing machine, eventually retreating down the drain without actually cleaning your clothes. What a waste of detergent, right?
With the high price of laundry detergent and my current never ending laundry load I knew this was a product I needed in my home. My two youngest sons attend Detroit Public Schools and currently wear uniforms. I can’t tell you how many uniform shirts I’ve had to replace because of the “hard water stains” left on the light colored uniform shirts. I tried washing the shirts alone, using cold water, hot water, nothing ever seemed to work. That is until I started adding 20 Mule Team Borax to my laundry loads. The difference in my laundry is noticeable and very appreciated. Because I am mom, wife and doer of the laundry I take full responsibility for the appearance of my family’s clothes.Their appearance and the cleanliness of their clothes is a direct reflection of me.
20 Mule Team Borax naturally softens hard water, which protects your detergent- so it can maximize cleaning power.
