So my fellow blogger buddy, Lisa W. had the bright idea to start yet another project for me. Yeah, blogger buddies, they’re like that.Never-mind that I’m already up til 5:00AM most nights! Uh, oh I hear a movie quote: “Every time I try to get out, they keep pulling me back in,!” LOL Lisa’s blog is A Life Full of Laughter. So, the premise of Finish it Friday, is sort of a support group for fellow bloggers who really love crafting, but Life has gotten in the way of us finishing our 99,000 projects!
In the Facebook group we list all of our upcoming projects, and try to finish at least one a week, and post our results by Friday.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well time will tell.
In light of all of the ribbing I was receiving from some of my other group members. I decided to turn Lolita off and complete a project, for this post. Who? Is Lolita?, you ask? Well, Loloita is my Laptop. She is in a perpetual state of “menopause” and often gets extremely hot, despite the fan i have under her, LOL.
The project I completed tonight was simple. I made a draft stopper. I’d been meaning to make one around Christmas, but as i stated before, Life got in the way, and the weather here in Detroit has been unseasonably mild. But, all good things must come to an end, and the “hawk” has returned with a vengeance! It’s 20 Degrees people!
Needless to say the draft at the front door of my “vintage abode” is recognizable. So, I pulled out some scrap fabric out of my scrap fabric bag, grabbed a tape measure and a big bag of dried beans. I measured the front door. Came upstairs cut my material, pulled out my sewing machine. Poor girl, I had to dust her off and wipe her down, she’s been neglected…. Did two lines of a zig zag stitch, closing the material on the sides. Then, I closed the bottom of one end. Now, I’m thinking I really could use one of those funnels I see when at the dollar store, LOL. But, not to fear, I am nothing, if not resourceful. I instead opted for a Styrofoam cup and proceeded to get more beans into the project than on the floor, well mostly.
After filling with dried beans I closed the other end, and it’s done. Now mind you I didn’t turn it inside out. Mine is very narrow, and I really don’t care about the aesthetics of it, just as long as it cuts the draft down. So if you would like to join up head on over to Lisa’s blog and sign up! Hope to see you there!
So, there, Lisa C. I finished my first project, LOL!
