About a week ago I received a jar of skillet bacon jam for review. Never trying or hearing of the product previously, I wondered what foods I would try it on. What is skillet bacon jam? Here is the response from the creators: we make this bacon spread condiment called bacon jam..you say what?.. that’s right, we use niman ranch bacon and render it down along with onions, balsamic and other spices . It cooks for several hours until it is a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, savory and slightly sweet….basically spreadable bacony goodness! USDA approved.
Once the savory sweet smelling condiment arrived, I was soon on a mission. I used the product when I made Philly Steaks & Cheese. I put about a teaspoon in my skillet as I cooked the Philly Steak. I also slathered a substantial amount on our buns. In a word, awesome! I mean I don’t know what my apprehension was before, but it is a darn good product. It’s the type of condiment that makes food go from good to awesome with just a teaspoon. Never requiring a lot the smoky bacon and onions makes any food your cooking smell and taste so good.
It would be great on any bread product or mixed in with your favorite meat. I really enjoyed it and so did my bacon loving family. A definite must try.
